The association, the guild, the groups of textile friends have set themselves the task of preserving the flax tradition of past times and giving the fibre a lively future.

By collecting and passing on flax traditions and stories from the Mühlviertel and all over the world, we also keep the flax craft alive.
HONOUR WOMEN'S LIVES
Textile labour has almost always been women's work. An important part of everyday life and yet hardly ever recorded or recognised. With Berta's flax, we do biographical work that also touches on modern women's lives
PRESERVE CRAFTSMANSHIP
Flax cultivation, fibre production, spinning and weaving - all this was common knowledge 100 years ago. We want to preserve this old craft for the future with workshops, lectures and demonstrations.
COLLECTING MATERIAL HISTORY
Crushers, hackles, chests and, of course, flax - we preserve and honour the tools used in flax processing and make the remaining dowry fibres available to our members for processing.
TEXTILE NETWORKING
The international guild connects people from all over the world, but also locally, who share a love of fibre, craftsmanship and history.
FLAX AS A FIBRE OF THE FUTURE
Flax is frugal, needs no pesticides, less water than cotton and is the perfect answer to the problems of fast fashion. Berta's flax not only helps to give flax back its past, but also to give it a future.

Christiane Seufferlein
Spinner, craft teacher, storyteller. Berta "happened" to her and she takes the task of giving flax a future by giving the people behind the fibre their stories back very seriously.
Dr Karin Altmann
Textile artist, deeply rooted in old traditions from all over the world. She networks, thinks outside the box and takes Berta into the wide world of art and culture.
Ulrich Seufferlein
Scythe teacher, carpentry restorer and all-round craftsman. He not only contributes his skills in repairing old tools to the association, but also takes care of the website and helps in the back office.
